Autumn at The Spinney
There is much to look forward to at this time of year not just the blackberries ripening in the hedgerows but our wildlife becomes more visible as the trees drop their leaves and the views on country walks open up to share a whole new vista of the landscape.
Of course here on Exmoor we have extra natural attractions like the fast flowing waterfalls, the wild goats, ponies and the herds of red deer. As autumn progresses our red deer take up the battle to determine which of them will have the rights to mate it is called the Rut. This spectacle is best enjoyed with one of our many professional off road drivers and Exmoor Safari guides.
Autumn is a time for country rambles wrapped in cosy jumpers and stopping to enjoy homemade soup and crusty bread at one of the many cafes or pubs, priding themselves on the use of fresh produce.
Returning to the Spinney to a log fire burning, yes all in all, autumn is a wonderful colourful time of year with quieter roads, foot paths and beaches, the ideal time to recharge the batteries.
