The Spinney has been around since 1750. Over the years, as you’d expect, it’s seen a few additions and changes. It’s been a rectory for the Arch Deacon of Barnstaple, a hunting lodge,  and a family home. In its most recent incarnation, it’s a guest house. And it’s a pretty good one too, if we say so ourselves. The most recent owner, Marie-Ann, has been here for a few years now, continuing and improving the tradition. The Spinney has a long and really quite interesting history. So, if you find yourself here and want to know some more, find MA, who’ll be more than keen to tell you about the B&B.

The Spinney’s Location

We’re located in an idyllic spot with fabulous views over open countryside and beyond to Exmoor. Whilst it has a truly rural feel, it is just a five minute drive to the bustling market town of Barnstaple. This way, you can enjoy the slow calm of the rural idyll, while also not going in want of civilisation. The Spinney is the perfect location to tour and discover the many delights North Devon has to offer.
