A View Wherever You Walk in North Devon and Around Exmoor

North Devon and Exmoor are a walkers’ paradise, with endless miles of woodland, coast, and river walks. The Spinney is located right by the South West coastal path and the famous Braunton Burrows too, so walkers really are spoilt for choice! We’re also just over an hour away from Dartmoor and the fantastic Torrs walks. 

A Surfers Paradise on the North Devon Coast

We have some of the UK’s best surfing beaches on our doorstep.Croyde Beach, only a 20 minute drive away, is famous for its surfing. Next to Croyde is Saunton Sands Beach, which is a 3 mile long beach that appeals to surfers, wind surfers and kite surfers. Or alternatively why not head to Woolacombe’s award winning beach to enjoy a surf? At the Spinney we have plenty of space to store your surf board and wet suits.



Activities and Tourist Attractions in North Devon and Exmoor

There are plenty of interesting attractions all over North Devon and Exmoor for you to visit when you stay. There are plenty of Gardens and Museums and other, more unique attractions, like the Cobbaton Combat Collection. The beautiful and unspoiled Lundy Island should, of course, be high up on your list, too, although, if you’d rather not risk getting seasick, there’s little else like Quincey Honey Farm.

Magnificient Golf Courses throughout North Devon

The Spinney is well located for all North Devon’s magnificent golf courses. Saunton Golf Clubis only a 20 minute car drive from us, is home to two of the great mature links Championship golf courses in the World. North Devon is also home to the oldest Golf course in England,The Royal North Devon Golf Club. If you’d like something newer, there’s the plush Highbullen golf course, and the course where each tee has a view of the sea, Ilfracombe Golf Course.

Fishing in North Devon and Exmoor

The Spinney is only a 5 minute drive away from Blakewell Fisheries. If you prefer sea fishing, Ilfracombe is fantastic for fishing from the rocks. If you’re more adventurous, you could also hire a boat and take a trip around the coast to fish.

Exmoor Star Gazing

The Spinney Welcomes Cyclists

North Devon has some of the best cycling in the UK. Whether you are a budding Chris Hoy, or enjoy a more leisurely pace, North Devon has diverse terrains for all abilities.

For the more adventurous, mountain biking and Exmoor are just 15 miles from the Spinney. Exmoor is one of the best and most challenging off road cycling destinations in the UK. The combination of a beautiful and varied landscape and an excellent network of bridleways, lanes and other permitted tracks provide ample opportunity for cyclists to enjoy some fantastic rides. The Spinney provides safe and secure storage for your bicycle. We also always have to puncture repair kits and many other cycling essentials that you may need.
